Habitat Home For Sean Shields

Habitat for Humanity of Danville broke ground for home number forty-nine on June 3rd, 2012 and our new partner is Sean Shields.

Sean was raised in Danville; he served in the US Navy from 1992-1996 as an aircraft bosun’s mate handler. He was stationed aboard the USS Independence, the USS Kitty Hawk, and the USS Tripoli.

Mr. Shields worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at the Danville Prison for thirteen years. In June, 2010 his career was cut short when he was injured in a motor vehicle accident.

He has two children, five and twelve, who live with him part-time. His handicap-accessible home will be built on the lot at 921 Chandler Street. Local veteran’s service organizations have expressed an interest in supporting this build and to date we have received a donation from the American Legion Post 288 in Veedersburg, Indiana.

Sean, friends and family eagerly anticipate building his home at the groundbreaking ceremony.
