What is a ReStore? A Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells donated items the proceeds of which are applied to building homes. The Habitat-Danville ReStore has an eclectic stock; we sell everything from knickknacks to books to furniture and appliances to building materials. Donated items are sold at 50-70% below retail prices.
Why should I donate? Items you donate promote green living by diversion from the landfill. The income we generate goes to building homes in Danville.
How do I donate? Your contributions are welcome and needed. Items can be dropped off at the truck dock behind the ReStore and we also provide a pickup service; we ask that items to be picked up be placed in either the garage or on the first floor near the front door. We only accept items that are in good salable condition; otherwise we incur disposal costs. We ask that you drop off items only when the store is open. Pickup service is scheduled by calling us at 442-0004 to arrange an appointment. We ask for a donation of ten dollars for in-town and twenty dollars for outside Danville pickups. Please think of us if you are having your home remodeled; we can recycle your old cabinets, appliances or construction materials of all kinds.
Items we accept: Furniture, lamps, kitchenware, knickknacks and housewares, artwork, home décor, books & magazines, appliances ( clean and in working order washer & dryer, refrigerators & freezers, ranges & cooktops, microwaves, dishwashers), hardware & tools, doors, new paint, cabinets (kitchen and bathroom), windows (double paned), electrical fixtures and usable plumbing fixtures.
Items we don’t accept: Hazardous materials, opened paint, used toilets, bathroom sinks w/o vanity, mattresses and box springs, clothes, shoes, cribs.
When can I shop? The ReStore is open 10-5 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 10-2 on Saturday. We are located in the old Sears automotive center at 121 N. Walnut Street in Danville.
How can I help? If you don’t feel comfortable using tools and building, the ReStore is the place for you to help our partner families secure safe, attractive decent housing. We have an immediate need for volunteers. We need help from those who are physically able to drive a truck and lift heavy items. We need people to sort, price, clean, make small repairs on and display the stock as well as manage the cash register and everything else that needs to be done in a retail establishment.
Don’t Hesitate: Volunteer, Donate and Shop!
